The Notschlange

Foundry crew and gun (except for the piggy thief, thats a Pro Gloria mini)

The Notschlange, a heavy siege gun of about 2,5 tons. I think they were using iron cannon balls already from the early 16th c. However I painted them as stone cannon balls to suit the stone mason figure.

I got the idea for this piece from an engraving by Erhard Schön:

Ich bin genant die Notschlang

Wo ich in ein Schlachtordnung gang

Mach ich ein Gass durch die Gelyder

WIP: Landsknecht Gun Emplacement

Its a resin terrain piece by Tabletopart, airbrushed. Foundry cannon plus crew next.

Landsknecht Unit

Mix of Foundry, Steelfist and Pro Gloria with a few Perry European heads mixed in for variety. Imaginary flag, tried to reflect the colours that I used on the Landsknechts clothing.

WIP: Guns!

Working on the Zvezda 88 Flak. A great little kit, fast built but on a par with the Hasegawa and Italeri kits qualitywise.Crew will be Italeri plastics. Base is by Grubby Tanks.

Landsknecht Comparison

When I heard about Foundry going a step back to their roots and releasing the old perry figs I decided to try my luck with the renaissance range - and i have to admit that, despite their age, the Foundry landsknechts still look well. Anatomy and proportions are right and they have that distinctive 3D feeling of the Perry work to them. Yet they show their age, or rather the age of the moulds, and the details are definitely not as clean and crisp as in the Pro Gloria figs. Nevertheless they go quite well together.
